Oil Paint Marker Birds

Another new medium for me.  Oil Paint Markers.  This material allows the permanence and rich color of oil but turns the experience into drawing.

Fascinating for me!

In these works I kept a few layers of under painting for depth, texture, and history (they were found paintings).  The bright acrylic spruced up the sad images I found and set the stage for my birds.

The birds were swiftly drawn then diligently filled in. Color play is a passion of mine.    And this combination of materials and theme give me the chance to explore it.

String Technique

I’m developing a new style using string techniques. Dipping it in ink and improvising from there.  The results have been very pleasing.  As has the response.

My favorite aspect of this method is the detachment I take.  So much happens beyond my control.  Dragging the string starts shapes and marks that surprise me every time.

This work is 22”x30” on Arches paper.  Black and brown ink compliment, and blend with, each other. And the light washes of watercolor are harmoniously jointed.

Hello World!  (oh yes, the internet IS GLOBAL!)

Welcome to my site.  Believe it or not I’ve had a domain in my name for almost 13 years, and only had a site up for about two years many moons ago.  So, I’m very excited to have this endeavor off the ground!

More of my thoughts and work will be shared as I continue forward, but let me just start by saying….
